BMW Hood Replacement and Repair in Dubai
Damaged bonnet, stuck release or a hood that will not stay open? Our Al Quoz workshop assesses panel damage, latches, cables and supports before recommending repair or replacement. Send photos and your model and year for an initial assessment and a fitted quotation.
Contact us to discuss suitable recovery. Routine pickup is different from transporting an unsafe vehicle. If the hood drops or will not stay open, keep clear and do not work beneath it. Do not force a hood after an impact or a pedestrian-protection warning.

BMW hood replacement cost in Dubai
A support replacement, dent repair and a painted replacement bonnet are different jobs. Your price depends on the model, panel material, damage, parts and paintwork. Photos help start the assessment; concealed damage requires inspection.
Paintless dent repair
Assess dent depth, access, material and previous repairs. Suitable PDR may preserve the existing paint. Creases, stretched metal and damaged paint can rule it out.
Body repair and refinishing
Identify permitted metal repair, preparation, paint and any adjacent-panel blending. Compare the complete repair price with replacement before approving work.
Supply, paint and fit
Specify the panel source and part number, test fit, preparation, refinishing, fittings and installation. Collision damage and safety-system work need separate assessment.
Latch and release cable
Include diagnosis, safe access labour, confirmed failed components and closure checks. A stiff handle does not by itself prove a cable needs replacing.
Correct supports and fitting
Confirm the support arrangement, part specification and quantity for the vehicle. Ordinary gas supports and active-bonnet components are assessed separately.
A complete written price
Ask for parts, preparation, paint, labour and VAT to be identified, with exclusions, availability and applicable warranty terms. No fixed fitted tariff is published here.
Include a full hood view, a close-up of the damage and any warning message. Tell us whether it closes securely and whether there was an impact. Share the VIN privately when requested for parts matching.
Repair or replace
Can your BMW hood be repaired?
Repairability depends on the panel material, damage depth, stretching, edges, reinforcement, access and the permitted repair method. Paintless dent repair may retain original paint when suitable; conventional repair normally needs refinishing. Photos support an initial assessment, but the panel and surrounding mounting areas must be inspected before a final decision.
Small dings and hail marks
Shallow dents with the paint intact, usually on the flat centre of the hood.
RepairScratches, chips and faded clear coat
Surface damage only, fixed by polishing, touch up or repainting the panel.
RepairLarger dent with cracked paint
Assess the skin, reinforcement, stretched areas and repair limits before recommending reshaping and refinishing.
Inspect firstCreased front edge or bent corner
The folded edge holds the shape of the panel and is hard to bring back exactly.
Case by caseInner frame bent after a front impact
The hood no longer lines up, latches badly or shows wavy gaps to the wings.
ReplaceTorn or stretched aluminium
Aluminium hoods do not always tolerate heavy reshaping without weakening.
ReplaceMore than a panel
Parts that make a BMW hood work
A hood replacement is not only the outer skin. Several small parts are moved across from the old hood or replaced with it, and each of them affects how the hood opens, closes and seals. Inspect clips, seals and insulation before deciding what can be reused. Quote damaged fittings separately rather than assume every item needs replacement.
Hinges
Set the position of the hood and the gaps to the wings and headlights.
Gas struts
Lift the hood and hold it open. They weaken with age and heat.
Latches
Many BMWs use two latches at the front corners of the hood.
Release cable
Runs from the handle in the footwell to the latches.
Insulation pad
Helps manage under-bonnet noise and heat where fitted; inspect its condition and fixings.
Washer jets and seals
Where mounted on the hood, inspect the jets, hoses and seals before reuse or replacement.
Opening problems
When your BMW hood will not open
The release procedure varies by model. Some vehicles use a two-pull handle, while others have a different arrangement or restrict owner access. Follow your vehicle handbook and stop if the release feels abnormal.
Use the model instructions
Check the correct opening procedure for your vehicle. Do not apply a generic two-pull method to every BMW.
Report resistance or damage
Do not pry the panel, repeatedly pull a resistant handle or ask someone to force the hood down. Tell us about recent impacts and warnings.
Describe what happens
Does the handle feel loose, does one side release, or does nothing move? These symptoms guide inspection but do not confirm the failed part.
Choose safe access
The technician checks the handle, cable, locks and alignment and selects the appropriate access method for the model. Access from below is not a universal procedure.
Secure support and closure
BMW hood strut and latch problems
A hood must stay safely supported when open and securely retained when closed. Check the installed support and latch arrangement, access and part specification before quoting. Supports can differ in length, force and end fittings even when they look similar.
Weak gas struts
Struts lose pressure over time, and heat speeds it up.
- Hood needs lifting all the way by hand
- Hood creeps down when left open
- Oily marks on the strut body
- Hood drops on a hot day

Faulty latches
Dust, sand and old grease make latches stiff or stop them catching.
- Hood needs slamming to close
- One side closes, the other does not
- Hood open warning on the dashboard
- Rattle from the front at speed
What it is made of
Aluminium, steel and carbon BMW hoods
BMW uses different hood materials across its range, and that changes how a damaged hood is repaired, painted and priced. Knowing which one your car has helps explain why one quote says repair and another says replace. Confirm the fitted panel using vehicle and part information rather than age or appearance alone.
Aluminium
Light and corrosion resistant, but it needs different tools and techniques for dent repair than steel. Surface preparation and coating compatibility must suit the material and refinishing system.
- Repair
- Subject to damage and repair limits
- Watch for
- Stretched or torn metal
- Paint
- Needs the correct primer system
Steel
Heavier and easier to reshape, but can rust where stone chips break through the paint.
- Repair
- Assess repair limits
- Watch for
- Rust spots at chips
- Paint
- Compatible preparation and coating
Carbon fibre
Very light and striking, but carbon is repaired differently and quality varies between makers.
- Repair
- Specialist work only
- Watch for
- Fit, latching and heat fade
- Paint
- Clear coat needs UV care
Fit and finish
Hood gaps, release cables and bump stops
Uneven gaps, a raised corner or a heavy release can involve alignment, damaged hinges, mounting points or the release mechanism. Inspect the panel and surrounding structure before adjusting anything, especially after a collision.
Side gaps to the wings
Set at the hinges so the gap is even from the windscreen to the headlights on both sides.
Height at the front corners
Adjustable rubber bump stops set how high the front of the hood sits against the wings.
Latch engagement
Verify every fitted latch retains the hood securely and releases correctly using the vehicle-specific procedure.
Release cable tension
Check handle operation, cable condition, routing and latch movement. Use adjustment only where provided by the design; replace confirmed damaged components as required.
Gap to the headlights and grille
The front edge must clear the headlights and kidney grille without touching when the hood closes.

After a previous repair
Previous repairs can affect panel position and closure. Inspect hinges, latch mounts and surrounding structure before deciding whether adjustment is sufficient or damaged parts require repair.
Our process
How a BMW hood is replaced
Check the supplied panel condition and preparation requirements before refinishing. The repair plan includes test fitting, agreed paintwork, serviceable fittings, alignment and functional checks. Additional collision or safety-system work is identified separately.
Assess
Check the hood, hinges, latches and front end.
Order
Correct hood for your chassis number.
Prepare
New panel test fitted, then prepped.
Paint
Paint code checked against the existing finish.
Transfer
Serviceable fittings transferred where applicable.
Align
Gaps set at hinges and bump stops.
Test
Latching, struts and warning checked.

Why the test fit comes first
Fitting the new hood before painting shows up any gap or alignment issue while it is still easy to adjust. Painting first and finding a problem afterwards risks marking fresh paint during the adjustment. The roundel is also moved across, and if yours has faded, our BMW emblem replacement page covers a new one.
Dubai conditions
BMW hood paint damage and aftercare
Sun exposure, stone impacts, contamination and previous paintwork can affect the bonnet finish. Peeling clear coat needs assessment for refinishing; polishing cannot replace a missing coating. After painting, follow the product-specific instructions before washing, polishing or applying protective film.

UV and heat
Exposure can contribute to fading and coating deterioration. The pattern and repair required vary.
Stone chips
Highway grit chips the leading edge, letting rust start on steel hoods.
Bird droppings
Remove promptly with a suitable gentle cleaning method; contamination can etch the finish.
Engine heat
Hot hood surfaces age the paint faster, and old insulation pads sag.
Protection film
Suitable film can help reduce stone-chip damage. UV performance and care depend on the product. See paint protection.
Related work
Front end jobs often done with the hood
A front impact may also damage nearby panels, lighting or trim. These are separate services that can be assessed at the same visit. The quotation should identify any additional work before you approve it.
Before the part is ordered
Match the panel and agree the finish
Hood and bonnet mean the same panel here. A correct replacement must suit the vehicle and its safety equipment, not just resemble the original from the outside.
VIN and actual equipment
Confirm production date, body style, panel material, mounting points and active-bonnet equipment. Tell the team about previous collision repairs or modifications. The actual panel also needs checking if it has been changed before.
Know what is supplied
The quotation should identify a genuine BMW or other proposed panel by source and part number. Confirm what is included with it and which serviceable fittings will be transferred. Do not assume carbon or aftermarket panels preserve every original safety function.
Approve preparation and blending
Assess the existing finish as well as the paint code. Agree any adjacent-panel blending and repairs to old paint before work begins. Test fitting helps identify alignment concerns before the final finish is applied.
Your handover record
Review panel gaps, paint finish, release operation, secure latching and hood support with the team. Confirm the invoice identifies supplied parts and completed work, with applicable warranty terms and paint aftercare. Washing, polishing and film application should follow the refinishing product instructions, not a universal waiting period.

How much does BMW hood replacement cost in Dubai?
The fitted cost depends on the exact panel, its source, damage, fittings, preparation, painting and labour. Photos start the assessment, but concealed damage needs inspection. Ask for a written quotation showing VAT and any additional work. No fixed hood-replacement tariff is published here.
Can a dented BMW bonnet be repaired?
Sometimes. Suitable shallow dents with intact paint may qualify for paintless dent repair. Other damage may need conventional repair and refinishing or replacement. Material, stretching, edges, reinforcement, access and manufacturer repair limits all affect the decision.
Why will my BMW hood not open?
The cause may involve the handle, cable, latch or panel alignment. First follow the opening procedure in your model-specific handbook. Stop if there is abnormal resistance, impact damage or an active-bonnet warning. A technician must choose the appropriate access and diagnosis method.
Can I drive with a hood that is not securely latched?
No. Do not drive with an unsecured hood, even if it appears to be held by a safety catch. Contact the workshop to discuss suitable recovery. Do not treat routine driver pickup as a safe substitute for recovery.
Why does the hood drop when it is open?
Weak supports, damaged fittings or another support fault need inspection. Keep clear and do not work beneath an unsupported hood. The correct replacement parts and quantity depend on the fitted arrangement and vehicle repair guidance.
What happens after active bonnet deployment?
The vehicle-specific pedestrian-protection system needs assessment. Relevant deployed or damaged parts and required checks are determined from the repair instructions. Do not force the hood or assume that a replacement panel or cleared warning restores the system.
Will the replacement hood match the paint?
The paint code is the starting specification. The existing finish and colour variation also need assessment. Ask whether adjacent-panel blending is required and included. Review the finish at handover and follow the paint-system aftercare advice.
Do you use genuine BMW hood panels?
Ask for the genuine BMW option for your VIN and confirm availability and part number. If another panel source is proposed, its manufacturer, fitment, condition and warranty must be clearly identified. Do not assume a matching model name alone proves compatibility.
What causes a hood-open warning when it looks closed?
Mechanical closure, a contact switch, wiring or another monitored fault can be involved. Secure retention must be checked first, followed by appropriate electrical or diagnostic checks. Do not assume the warning is harmless because the hood appears flush.
How long will repair or replacement take?
Timing depends on inspection, panel availability, repair work, test fitting, painting and curing. Confirm the expected schedule after the repair plan is agreed. A small support job and collision-related panel replacement will not have the same turnaround.
What warranty and handover checks should I expect?
Confirm the actual parts, paintwork and workmanship terms in writing before approval. At handover review panel fit, finish, secure latching, release operation and supports. Relevant warning or pedestrian-protection checks must reflect the work and equipment fitted.
Do you offer pickup for hood work?
The business advertises free pickup in Dubai. Confirm eligibility, access and scheduling for your job. Tell the team if the hood is insecure or the car was involved in a collision so suitable recovery can be discussed rather than arranging a driver.
