Vinyl wrap, partial wrap and chrome delete

BMW Car Wrapping in Dubai

Change your BMW’s colour, add a contrast roof or choose a chrome delete at our Al Quoz workshop. We assess the paint, compare film samples and agree the covered panels before quoting. Vinyl offers a removable finish on suitable surfaces, but paint condition and film age affect removal. Free pickup is available in Dubai.

Budget before choosing a finish

BMW wrapping prices in Dubai

Published Dubai market guides place full saloon wraps around AED 3,500 to 8,000 and SUV wraps around AED 5,000 to 12,000. These are budgeting references, not fixed offers from our workshop. Your quotation follows the paint assessment and film selection.

Confirm the film manufacturer, series, colour code, finish and covered panels. Ask whether preparation, trim removal and refitting, replacement clips, old-film removal and adhesive cleanup are included. Paint repairs, door shuts, complex graphics and administrative charges should be identified separately where applicable.

Agree the final total, any applicable tax, completion estimate and written warranty terms before authorising work. A full wrap usually takes several days; repairs, film availability and old-wrap removal can extend the schedule.

Three ways to change the finish

Wrap paint or PPF for your BMW

Owners often ask whether to wrap, respray or fit paint protection film. They do different jobs, so the right choice depends on whether you want a new look, a lasting colour or protection for the paint you already have.

Vinyl wrap

Changes the colour or finish over suitable existing paint. Removal depends on film condition, substrate adhesion and the manufacturer’s instructions.

  • New colour without a respray
  • Matte, satin, gloss and metallic finishes
  • Some protection from light scratches
  • Not a repair for chips or dents
Respray

A permanent refinishing option for damaged paint or a lasting colour change. Coverage can include door shuts and hidden areas when specified.

  • Permanent result
  • Can include door shuts
  • Longer time off the road
  • Can affect resale value
Paint protection film

PPF is designed for greater resistance to stone chips and abrasion than decorative vinyl. Clear PPF retains the paint colour; coloured PPF can also change the appearance.

  • Strong chip protection
  • Clear, gloss or matte
  • Clear or coloured product options
  • See our paint protection page

How the colour reads in the sun

Vinyl wrap finishes for BMWs

The same colour looks very different in gloss and matte. In bright Dubai light, finish matters as much as colour, and some finishes show dust and water marks more than others. These are the finishes most owners choose between.

If you are unsure, ask to see a sample on your own car in daylight. A colour that looks right on a phone screen can look darker or flatter on a large panel outdoors.

GlossLooks closest to fresh paint and is the easiest to keep clean.
SatinA soft sheen that shows the lines of the body without strong reflections.
MatteFlat and bold, but needs gentle washing and shows marks more easily.
MetallicFine flake that sparkles in the sun and suits darker colours.

Smaller changes, big difference

Partial wraps and chrome delete

You do not need to wrap the whole car to change its look. Partial wraps take less time, cost less and are a popular way to make a BMW feel more personal. They also pair well with black wheels or darker window tint for a matching look.

Bonnet

A contrast bonnet, often in gloss or satin black, gives a sporty front end.

Roof

A black roof is one of the most requested changes, especially on white or grey cars.

Mirror caps

Small and quick, mirror caps are an easy way to add a contrast colour.

Chrome delete

Window surrounds, grille surrounds and badges turned black for a cleaner look.

Boot and spoiler

A wrapped boot lid or spoiler can tie in with a roof or bonnet wrap.

Plan the colour change

Dubai approval and registration steps

For a licensed vehicle, obtain the required Dubai Police colour-change permit before changing the colour. Installation, inspection and updating the vehicle record are separate steps. Confirm the current requirements for your proposed design before booking.

A partial wrap is not an automatic exemption. Ask about your proposed roof, bonnet, two-tone finish or graphics if the recorded colour may change. Commercial advertising can involve a separate permission route.

Official guidance from RTA on colour-change permission and ownership-detail amendments. Confirm current permit, inspection and registration charges separately from the wrap price.

  1. Confirm the proposed finish

Check the intended colour and any graphics with the relevant authority.

  2. Obtain permission

Complete the Dubai Police application and meet its current document and fee requirements.

  3. Fit the approved wrap

Agree the colour, coverage and installation appointment after permission is in place.

  4. Complete the required inspection

RTA specifies inspection for a colour change before applying to amend ownership details.

  5. Update the vehicle record

Complete the registration amendment and follow the authority’s conditions for vehicle use.

Agree the details before fitting

What your BMW wrap includes

A full exterior wrap does not automatically include every hidden painted surface. Choose coverage by panel so the finish and price match your expectations.

Exterior panels and returns

Confirm the bonnet, roof, boot, bumpers, wings and doors. Agree edge returns, seams and any areas where the original colour may remain visible. Door shuts and inner openings need a separate coverage decision.

Trims and delicate parts

Specify mirror caps, handles, spoilers, badges and window surrounds. Confirm which parts need removal and refitting, and how fragile clips or damaged trim will be handled.

BMW sensors and special finishes

Plan around cameras, parking sensors, radar areas and active grille components using the vehicle and film requirements. Carbon-fibre surfaces, textured plastics and BMW Frozen paint need individual assessment.

Existing coatings and repairs

Tell us about ceramic coatings, sealants, previous paint repairs and existing film. Adhesion preparation depends on the surface. Fresh paint must reach the paint supplier’s required cure condition; there is no universal waiting period suitable for every repair.

Most of the work happens before the film

Preparing a BMW for a vinyl wrap

Vinyl follows every flaw underneath it. Dust, wax and old sealant stop the film sticking, and chips or rough spots show through. Good preparation is what lets a wrap sit flat and last.

A

Wash and decontaminate. Road film, tar and iron particles are removed from every panel.

B

Clay and degrease. The surface is made smooth and free of wax so the adhesive can grip.

C

Paint check. Chips, lifting clear coat and repaired panels are noted before any film goes on.

D

Remove parts. Badges, handles, lights or trims are taken off where needed so edges can be wrapped neatly.

From choice to handover

How a BMW wrap is fitted

A full wrap on a BMW usually takes several days, depending on the size of the car and how many parts need to come off. We confirm timing when you book.

01

Choose colour and finish

We look at samples together and agree the film, the finish and which areas are covered.

02

Prepare the paint

The car is washed, decontaminated and checked panel by panel.

03

Remove trims

Parts that would leave a visible edge are carefully taken off.

04

Lay the film

Each panel is wrapped, stretched evenly around curves and trimmed.

05

Post heat edges

Edges and recesses are heated so the film holds its shape.

06

Refit and inspect

Parts go back on and the whole car is checked in good light before handover.

What the film is made of

Choosing wrap film for Dubai conditions

Not all vinyl is made the same way, and the difference shows after a summer or two. Cheaper film can shrink back from edges, crack on curved panels and fade quickly on the roof and bonnet. For a full wrap on a BMW, we use cast film made for vehicle wrapping rather than sign vinyl.

Horizontal panels receive strong sun exposure and may have shorter durability or warranty periods than doors. Colour, finish, product series, parking and care all affect performance. Choose from the actual film specification rather than assuming one colour always lasts longer.

Cast film

Conformable film suited to complex vehicle shapes when the product supports the application. Correct stretching, preparation and post-heating still matter.

Curves
Shrink resistance

Calendered film

Thicker and cheaper. Fine for flat areas, but more likely to shrink or lift on curves in strong heat.

Keeping the film looking new

Caring for a wrapped BMW in Dubai

Heat, sand and hard water are tough on vinyl. The way you wash and park the car makes a real difference to how the wrap looks after a couple of summers. A few easy habits keep the colour even and the edges tight, and most of them take no extra time once they become routine.

Hand washing a satin grey wrapped BMW X6 with a soft mitt in a shaded bay
Hand wash

Use a soft mitt and a gentle shampoo. Automatic brush washes can scratch film and lift edges.

Keep pressure washers back

Hold the nozzle at a distance and never aim it straight at an edge or seam.

Clean droppings quickly

Bird droppings and sap can stain vinyl in the heat, so remove them the same day.

Park in shade

Covered parking slows fading, especially on horizontal panels such as the roof and bonnet.

Matte needs care

Do not polish or wax matte and satin film, as it will leave shiny patches.

Check edges

If an edge starts to lift, bring it in early before sand and water get under it.

What a wrap can and cannot hide

Wrapping over chips dents and old repairs

A wrap is thin, so it shows the shape of the panel underneath. Dents, deep scratches and chips do not disappear under film, and loose paint or lacquer can lift when the wrap is later removed.

If your BMW has damage, it is better to fix it first. Small scratches and chips can be repaired, and dents can be pulled or filled before the film goes on. Repairs must be properly cured and assessed for adhesion before wrapping. Preparation reduces avoidable problems but does not guarantee damage-free removal.

When it is time for a change

Removing a wrap from your BMW

Selling the car, changing colour again or replacing a tired wrap all mean the old film has to come off. How easily it comes off depends on the age of the film, how long it has baked in the sun and the condition of the paint underneath.

Older film can turn brittle and come away in small pieces, which takes longer. Paint that has been resprayed in the past may not hold as firmly as factory paint, so we check those panels first and go slowly.

Gentle heat

Heat and peel technique follow the selected film’s removal instructions and the condition of the paint.

Adhesive removal

Leftover glue is cleaned off with a remover made for car paint.

Paint check

Panels are inspected after removal. Any further cleaning or paint correction is agreed separately; matte paint must not be polished.

Colour update

If the car returns to its original colour, the registration may need updating too.

3 Series and M3

Satin or contrast accents

Satin highlights the body lines. A black roof or mirrors adds contrast, with careful trimming around front intakes.

4 Series and M4

Bold colour changes

Coupes and Gran Coupes suit expressive finishes. Grille openings and frameless doors need neat edge planning.

5 Series

Understated chrome delete

Black window trims refresh the appearance while keeping the existing body colour.

X5 and X6

Matte or satin grey

Larger panels need more film and fitting time. Agree seams and coverage before installation.

X7

A contrasting roof or chrome delete offers a focused alternative to wrapping the whole SUV.

Keep the agreement clear

Film warranty and care after fitting

Identify the film

Ask for the exact manufacturer, product series, colour code and finish on your quotation. Confirm stock availability and inspect a physical sample in daylight. A screen preview is not an exact colour match.

Separate the warranty terms

Manufacturer material cover and installer workmanship cover are different. Confirm the applicable UAE terms, horizontal-panel exclusions, maintenance requirements, claim process and any removal charges in writing.

Plan the handover

Confirm first-wash timing, approved cleaning products and any follow-up edge inspection. Follow the selected film’s instructions for pressure washing, heat and coatings. Report lifting, cracking or discolouration promptly.

Repairing one damaged panel

A damaged panel may be rewrapped without replacing the whole vehicle’s film, subject to inspection. A new piece may differ from older film because of weathering, production batches or discontinued colours. Agree the match and replacement scope before work starts.

Know when removal is due

Expected service life is not the same as a warranty period. Strong sun, horizontal exposure and care affect ageing. Brittle, cracked or lifting film should be assessed early because delayed removal can increase labour and paint risk.

FAQ

BMW car wrapping questions answered

Straight answers to what owners ask us before booking a wrap, from cost and timing to the colour change rules in Dubai.

What is included in a full exterior wrap?

The written scope should identify the exterior panels, mirror caps, handles, trims, seams and edge returns. Door shuts, inner openings, paint repairs and old-film removal are not automatically included. Agree any exposed original colour before fitting.

How long will the film last in Dubai?

Service life depends on the exact film, finish, exposure and maintenance. Roofs and bonnets may have shorter durability and warranty periods than vertical panels. Ask for the applicable UAE product terms; a warranty is not a promise that every panel will look unchanged for that period.

Can one damaged panel be rewrapped?

Often a panel can be replaced after inspection. New film may not exactly match weathered film or an older production batch. Availability, colour matching and coverage need to be agreed before ordering.

How much does it cost to wrap a BMW in Dubai?

The market guides referenced above place a full saloon wrap around AED 3,500 to 8,000 and an SUV wrap around AED 5,000 to 12,000. These are not our fixed offers. Your quote depends on the exact film, covered panels, paint condition and removal or repair work.

Do I need permission to wrap my BMW in a new colour?

For a licensed vehicle, obtain the required Dubai Police colour-change permission before installation. Complete the required inspection and registration amendment afterwards, following the authority’s current procedure.

Does a roof or bonnet wrap need approval?

Do not assume a partial wrap is exempt. Confirm the proposed coverage and colour with Dubai Police or RTA before fitting, especially for two-tone designs or graphics.

How long does a BMW wrap take?

A full wrap usually takes several days, because the paint needs preparing and some parts come off. Partial wraps and chrome delete are much quicker. We confirm timing when you book.

Will a wrap damage my paint?

Suitable film is designed for removal from compatible sound surfaces, but no assessment can guarantee zero paint risk. Repainted panels, weak clear coat, poorly cured repairs and aged film need particular care. Discuss the documented condition before installation.

Can you wrap over scratches or dents?

Light swirls are usually fine, but deep scratches, chips and dents show through the film and should be repaired first.

Which finish is easiest to look after?

Gloss is the easiest to clean and hides light marks well. Matte and satin look great but need gentle washing with a shampoo made for matte film, and no wax or polish.

Can I take my wrapped car through a car wash?

Hand washing is kinder to the film. Brush washes can scratch vinyl and lift edges.

Can you remove an old wrap?

Yes. The film is warmed and peeled slowly, then the adhesive is cleaned off and the paint is checked.

Do you collect the car?

Yes. We offer free pickup in Dubai, and the work is done at our Al Quoz workshop, open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 7pm.
