One name two turbo arrangements
Is your 335i an N54 or N55
The engine fitted matters more than the registration year. Imports, an engine swap and modified intake or boost equipment can change both the diagnosis and parts order.
N54
Two separate turbochargers
The N54 uses a twin-turbo arrangement. A turbo quotation should identify the affected unit or units and related pipework. Its fuel-injection components must also be matched to the actual engine.

The N55 uses one twin-scroll turbocharger. Twin-scroll describes its arrangement rather than two complete turbos. Its intake, controls and fuel-injection parts differ from the N54.

Oil on the engine needs tracing
Repair the source of the leak
A burning smell, wet engine edge or oil on the undertray needs the source identified. Oil can spread away from its origin, so the lowest visible drip is not necessarily the failed gasket.
For a housing leak, ask whether nearby belts and other affected parts need inspection. After repair, agree a leak recheck and any follow-up observation. A rebuild or replacement engine needs evidence of internal damage and its own complete fitted estimate.
Coolant loss and temperature warnings
Cooling work needs more than a pump
The N54 and N55 engine families use an electric main coolant pump. Pump control, electrical supply, thermostat operation, leaks and the fitted cooling circuit need to be considered together.

Inspect reservoirs, joints, radiator and hoses, using the appropriate leak test. An empty tank alone does not prove that the pump has failed.

Compare operating data with the applicable pump, electrical and temperature-control checks. Any damage after overheating is assessed separately.

Complete and recheck
Itemise coolant, seals, the required filling and bleeding procedure, and final leak and temperature checks with the pump or other repair.

Gear change cornering or road speed
Put the judder in the right system
Tell us whether the symptom follows engine load, a shift, low-speed turning or vehicle speed. A tuned engine, altered mounts or non-standard wheels are relevant details for the assessment.
Gearbox behaviour
Identify manual, automatic or another fitted transmission before discussing fluid work. A service may be due without being a cure for slipping or delayed engagement. Valve-body or internal repairs need their own findings and price.
xDrive and road-speed vibration
Transfer-case work applies only to a car fitted with the relevant system. Check tyres, joints, mounts and other causes of shudder before assuming an expensive driveline assembly needs replacement.
Braking and ride
Brake vibration, steering pull and knocks need the affected axle and fitted equipment inspected. Compare pads, discs, calipers, bushes and dampers by actual condition, parts choice and quantity.

Does twin-scroll mean my 335i has two turbos
No. The N55 has a single twin-scroll turbocharger; the N54 has two separate turbochargers. Identify the engine and existing modifications before comparing turbo parts or labour. The quote should name the number and condition of supplied units.
Will a charge pipe repair fix reduced power
It can when testing identifies a leak or failed pipe as the cause. Ignition, fuel, turbo controls and mechanical faults can produce different repairs. A reduced-power warning alone does not establish that a pipe or turbo must be replaced.
Do you replace all injectors after a misfire
A misfire needs diagnosis before quantities are chosen. Match any replacement to the engine, relevant parts requirements and required setup. Ask what testing supports each proposed injector rather than assuming every cylinder needs a new part.
