What changes the cost of a repair

We price the work once testing identifies the fault. The quote should state which parts, fluids and final checks are included.

Convertible roof
Diagnosis, alignment and hydraulic or mechanical repairs have different parts and labour.
Oil or coolant leaks
The leak source determines access, parts, seals and any fluids needed.
Gearbox and xDrive
A fluid service, leak repair and internal repair are quoted as separate jobs.

Which BMW 6 Series do you drive

Choose the body family first. The model year and badge help identify the right checks. We confirm the VIN when ordering parts.

F06, F12 and F13Gran Coupé, Convertible and Coupé

Confirm the engine, brake package and whether xDrive is fitted. F12 roof faults need body-specific checks.

Confirm fitment by model year and VIN

For an M6, see BMW M6 repair and tell us the generation. Engine, transmission and brake requirements vary.

Find the right checks

Start with what you noticed

Open a symptom to see where testing starts.

Rough running or loss of power

Tell us whether it happens at a cold start, at idle or while accelerating. We use the fault record to choose ignition, fuel or air-path checks.

See the checks
Coolant level drops or temperature rises

We check whether coolant is escaping or the fitted cooling system is failing to circulate or shed heat.

See the checks
Oil drips or a burning smell

We trace fresh oil around the engine and undertray before pricing a seal or housing.

See the checks
Roof stops or trim gets wet

On a Convertible, note where the roof stops. If water enters, tell us where you first noticed it.

See the checks
Shudder or harsh shifts

Tell us whether it follows a shift, a tight turn or a steady road speed.

See the checks
Brake judder, knock or uneven ride

We separate a brake issue from tyre, suspension or ride-height faults.

Engine and drivability

Find the reason for rough running

Tell us whether it happens at cold start, at idle or when accelerating.

  1. Read the fault data

Check stored faults, affected cylinders and conditions at the time of the fault. On diesel models, agree tests based on the fault data and fitted fuel or emissions system.

  2. Test the fitted system

Check ignition and fuel delivery where applicable. On turbocharged models, investigate the charge-air path if the symptom points to a boost leak.

  3. Price the confirmed work

Compare the test results before quoting plugs, coils, injectors or boost-control parts.

Cooling system

Separate a coolant leak from a circulation fault

  • Level keeps droppingInspect the reservoir, hose joints and accessible leak points. Pressure test as indicated.
  • Temperature risesCheck the fitted pump, fan and temperature data as the findings warrant.

Explore coolant leak checks

Overheating warning? Stop safely, switch off the engine and arrange assistance. Leave the coolant cap closed while the system is hot.

Oil loss

Trace the source before ordering seals

Oil can travel across covers and collect in the undertray. We follow fresh oil to its source, then explain whether the job needs a seal or a damaged housing replaced.

The fitted quote should include any related seals, fluids, access labour and the final leak check.

Tell us where the roof stops

Tell us the point in the opening or closing cycle and any message you saw. If the roof binds or stops partway, avoid repeatedly operating it.

For a G32, tell us if the concern is the tailgate or water entering around another opening.

Stops mid-cycleWe check the relevant operating conditions, fault data and position signals.
Closes unevenlyWe check the mechanism and alignment before pricing adjustment or parts.
Reaches the latch but will not closeTell us what the display says. We check the latch and whether it reports the right position.
Water in the trim or bootWe trace where it first enters and inspect the relevant seals and drainage.

Gearbox and driveline

Shudder during a shift or while cruising

Tell us the speed, gear, throttle position and whether it also happens in a turn.

  • Engine and gearbox dataCheck both before attributing a stumble to the transmission.
  • xDrive when fittedCheck tyre fitment and consider the transfer case when the symptoms point there.
  • Fluid service scopeIdentify the gearbox, correct fluid and filter or pan requirements before quoting.

Brakes and suspension

Match the inspection to what you feel

Brake judder or pad warning

Measure pad and disc condition on the affected axle and confirm the brake package and sensor before pricing parts.

Knock or unsettled ride

Check links, bushes, joints and damper mounts as applicable. Confirm standard or adaptive suspension before ordering parts.

Uneven ride height

On a car with a ride-height system, compare corner heights and investigate leaks or control faults where indicated.

Scheduled service

Build the service around the car you own

Compare the vehicle service display with its invoices. If the history is incomplete, ask for a baseline inspection and a list of what can wait.

  • Oil and filter

Confirm approval and fill quantity by engine before pricing.

  • Brakes and tyres

Check actual wear, brake fluid due date and the fitted tyre sizes.

  • Ignition or diesel service items

Review plugs where fitted, filters and any engine-specific items against the service history.

Plan the work in order

Separate immediate concerns from maintenance due soon and items to monitor. Ask for a price against each agreed task.

BMW 6 Series repair questions

Can you quote from the model badge alone?

Send the VIN, mileage and the work needed. A routine service can often be scoped once fitment is clear. A fault may need testing before a fitted quote.

Do a Gran Coupe and Gran Turismo use the same parts?

They are separate body families. Check the VIN, engine and equipment before ordering body, driveline or suspension parts.

Can I combine maintenance with a roof or warning check?

Yes. Mention both at booking so the due service and the fault diagnosis can be scoped separately.

Can you collect my 6 Series in Dubai?

The workshop offers free Dubai pickup. Confirm availability when booking. If the car is unsafe to drive, call to confirm recovery arrangements and any charge separately.
