Know what you are paying for

BMW control arm replacement cost in Dubai

A fitted price depends on the exact arm, its supplied bushes or joint, parts manufacturer and work needed afterwards. Send your model, year and symptoms for a quotation. The final repair price follows identification and inspection; there is no single fixed price for every BMW.

01

The replacement

Specify front or rear axle, left or right side, arm position, quantity and manufacturer. Ask whether the arm includes the required bushes and ball joint.

02

The fitted total

Have parts, labour, required fasteners, inspection charges, alignment and VAT identified. Confirm any exclusions before approving the repair.

03

The arrangements

Confirm parts availability, expected completion, collection arrangements and applicable warranty terms. Extra work such as seized fastener removal needs a revised agreement.

The part behind the repair

Control arms guide the wheel through its movement

A control arm links the wheel carrier to the body or subframe and helps control wheel position under braking, cornering and suspension travel. Bushes and joints allow the required movement. Their arrangement varies by BMW generation and axle.

Identify the exact arm

Front wishbones, thrust arms and rear links

Names such as wishbone, tension strut, thrust rod and guide arm can refer to different positions. We identify the part by the vehicle specification and mounting location before ordering.

01

Lower control arm

Front axle

Guides wheel movement through its mounts. Joint and bush serviceability depend on the actual arm.

02

Thrust or tension arm

Where fitted

Helps manage fore-and-aft loads. Some designs use a hydraulic bush; fluid-filled and solid designs are not automatically interchangeable.

03

Upper control arm

Applicable axle designs

Used on some double-wishbone layouts. Do not order an upper arm from a model name alone.

04

Rear suspension arms

Rear axle

Multiple links control rear wheel position. Identify the affected link rather than replacing every arm for one noise.

05

Trailing and guide arms

Application dependent

Mounting, bush orientation and adjustment arrangements vary. The exact part reference matters.

Start with what you notice

Symptoms that need a suspension inspection

A symptom is a starting point, not a diagnosis or a safe driving allowance. Tell us when it happens, whether it is getting worse and whether it followed an impact.

Steering shake during braking

Thrust arm bushes are one possibility. Brake disc variation, hub condition, tyres and wheels also need consideration. Describe whether the shake occurs only when braking or at a particular road speed.

Knocking over bumps or when changing direction

Check for play or damage in arms and joints alongside drop links, mounts, tie rods and other relevant components. Sound alone does not establish which part needs replacing.

Pulling, wandering or rapid tyre wear

Arrange a prompt assessment of tyre condition, pressures, alignment and suspension or steering play. Do not assume a wheel alignment alone will correct a loose or damaged component.

A damaged arm after a kerb or pothole impact

Check the arm, wheel, tyre, wheel carrier and mounting areas. A bent arm may be only part of the damage; agree the repair after inspection.

Stop driving if control or wheel position changes

If the wheel sits at an unusual angle, the vehicle becomes unstable, a tyre rubs after an impact or a joint may have separated, stop as soon as it is safe. Call to discuss suitable recovery. Ordinary driver pickup is not appropriate for a vehicle that cannot be driven safely.

Choose the repair that fits the fault

Complete arm, replacement bush or separate joint

The decision follows the arm condition, approved serviceability and total fitted cost. A lower parts price does not always mean a lower repair bill.

COMPLETE ASSEMBLY

Replace the control arm

Suitable when the arm is damaged, a worn joint is not separately serviceable or several supplied components need renewal.

  • Confirm which bushes and joints come with it
  • Inspect mounting points and related damage
  • Compare like-for-like parts and labour
BUSH REPLACEMENT

Retain a serviceable arm

Possible when the arm and joint remain serviceable and the correct replacement bush and fitting procedure are available.

  • Check the bush housing and arm condition
  • Allow for removal and pressing labour
  • Follow specified orientation and depth
JOINT REPLACEMENT

Renew a serviceable joint

Only where the particular assembly permits separate joint replacement, including any restrictions on previous replacement.

  • Verify the actual arm and joint design
  • Check retention and mounting condition
  • Do not assume every pressed joint is replaceable

One side or both sides

Inspect both sides and follow any applicable paired-replacement instructions. Wear need not be equal. We explain whether the opposite arm also needs work and compare the cost of doing required work together.

For separately serviceable components, see BMW bushing replacement or BMW ball joint replacement.

From inspection to fitting

How we replace your BMW control arm

The repair follows the instructions for the actual vehicle and component. Access, suspension design and corrosion can change the work required.

Technician tightening a BMW control arm bolt with a torque wrench while the suspension is supported at normal ride height
  1. Assess safety and locate the fault

Inspect the vehicle before deciding whether a road test is safe. Check relevant arms, joints, bushes and mountings using the prescribed loaded or unloaded test method. A noise or superficial rubber marking alone does not establish the repair.

  2. Identify the part and agree the work

Use the VIN, axle and arm position to verify fitment, including relevant drivetrain and suspension options. Explain the findings, parts choice, total quotation and any additional work before starting.

  3. Remove and fit with the correct support

Support the assembly, protect adjacent components and inspect the mounting areas. Follow the specified fitting method and renew fasteners or retaining hardware where required. If further damage is found, discuss it before extending the work.

  4. Tighten in the prescribed position

Apply the specified torque and angle procedure. Relevant bonded-rubber pivot fasteners require final tightening in the prescribed normal suspension position, rather than with the wheel hanging. This is not a universal instruction for every fastener.

  5. Measure geometry and verify the repair

Check alignment as required by the repair procedure and adjust within the vehicle’s permitted settings. Recheck the original complaint when a road test is safe. Report any remaining fault instead of treating new parts as proof that everything is resolved.

Before collection

Your alignment results and repair record

01

What was replaced

Keep the invoice identifying the arm position, quantity, parts manufacturer and agreed work. Ask for the inspection findings and applicable parts or labour warranty terms.

02

What was measured

Where alignment is carried out, request the before-and-after readings. Some angles are not routinely adjustable; damage, incorrect ride height or other worn parts may need attention if readings remain outside specification.

03

What to report

Contact the workshop if knocking, pulling, steering changes or the original complaint remains. Do not assume these symptoms are normal bedding-in. If the vehicle feels unstable, stop driving safely and call.

Learn more about BMW wheel alignment. Alignment supports the repair but does not correct a loose joint or bent component.

Fitment before ordering

Match the control arm to your BMW

Model badges alone are not enough to select a suspension arm. Generation, production specification, axle position and relevant options determine compatibility.

3 and 4 Series

Generation and front axle design

E90, F30, G20, F32 and G22 are different applications. Identify the specific wishbone or tension arm and verify its supplied mounts.

5 and 7 Series

Upper, lower and rear arm positions

E60, F10, G30, F01 and G11 do not share one universal front suspension layout. Check the actual position before comparing prices.

X models

Vehicle and drivetrain specification

X3, X5 and X6 parts differ by generation and application. A similar-looking arm is not enough to establish fitment.

M and other BMWs

Confirm the exact application

M-specific parts, other Series models and electric BMWs need their own fitment check. Send your model and year; the VIN helps verify the part and availability.

BMW control arm replacement questions

How much does BMW control arm replacement cost in Dubai?

The fitted price depends on the exact arm, quantity, parts manufacturer and associated work. Request a quotation that identifies parts, labour, required fasteners, alignment and VAT. Model and year help with an initial enquiry; final fitment and repair needs must be confirmed.

How do I know whether the control arm needs replacing?

Knocking, braking vibration, wandering or uneven tyre wear can prompt an inspection, but they do not prove the arm is faulty. The workshop checks the arm, its joints and bushes and other possible causes before recommending replacement.

Can you replace only the control arm bush?

Sometimes. The arm, housing and joint must remain serviceable, and the correct bush and fitting procedure must be available. Compare the total fitted cost with a complete arm.

Can the ball joint be replaced separately?

Only if the specific design and applicable instructions allow it. Some joints are integral to the arm; others have restrictions on separate replacement. A pressed-in joint is not automatically serviceable.

Do control arms have to be replaced in pairs?

Not as a universal rule. Inspect both sides, follow any application-specific paired-replacement instructions and explain the condition of the opposite side. Both sides need not have equal wear.

Do I need alignment after control arm replacement?

The repair procedure determines the checks required. Suspension geometry should be verified after relevant arm work and adjusted where needed and permitted. Ask whether measurement, adjustment and the results report are included in the quotation.

Is braking vibration always caused by a thrust arm bush?

No. A worn thrust arm bush is one possible cause, but brakes, hubs, tyres, wheels and other components may contribute. Tell the workshop when the vibration occurs so inspection can follow the symptom.

Can I drive with a damaged control arm?

Safety cannot be judged from a message or a fixed waiting period. If steering or stability changes significantly, a wheel is displaced or a joint may have failed, stop driving safely and discuss recovery. Arrange inspection promptly for new or worsening symptoms.

How long does control arm replacement take?

Timing depends on the arm position, access, parts availability, hardware condition and alignment work. Ask for a completion estimate after the work is identified; a message does not confirm a same-day booking.

Which parts will be fitted?

Ask for the manufacturer, exact application and supplied components on the quotation. Genuine BMW and suitable alternative parts should be compared by specification and warranty terms, not by a generic OEM label alone.

Will the control arm repair have a warranty?

Confirm the applicable parts and labour coverage, duration, exclusions and claim process in writing before approving the repair. Coverage depends on the agreed parts and work.

Do you offer pickup in Dubai?

Yes, free Dubai pickup and delivery are offered through the workshop. Contact the team to arrange availability and access. If the car is unsafe to drive, describe the problem first and agree suitable recovery rather than ordinary driver collection.
